The Struggle

Is so real right now!

I HATE moving. Obviously, I love the fresh start and new beginnings but, the feeling of being overwhelmed and my anxiety is awful!

We gave our 60 day notice at the previous place on September 30, 2014. We signed our new lease on October 2, 2014 and I have been packing ever since.

The Ricker/Runge Disaster Zone!

Since J works full time and is in school full time, he left everything up to me and I am totally okay with that. We have boxes on boxes on boxes of memories and belongings that will be packed into the back of a truck tomorrow night. We aren't moving far but this will be a great move for us. We will be reaching more milestones together and continuing on our "life plan" together!

J and his family call me 'psycho' crazy when it comes to moving because the last two moves we made together, we started at 6pm and got all of the boxes into the new place by 10-11pm. While J slept for work the next day, I stayed up all night-legit, all night-putting everything away. He woke up for work to see all of the boxes empty and everything put in its place #domesticgoddess. You better believe that it will be the same way this time!

Bye-Bye 1012! Hello 6030!

Return Package
Price Sheet
I personally, do not open the price sheet until I try everything on because if I absolutely fall in love with an item, I don't want that to sway me. The total for this Fix is $330(-$20 styling fee=$310) however, if you purchase all five items, you receive 25% off ($77.50) the total which would bring my total to $232.50!
I will be purchasing all five of my items!
What is StitchFix?
StitchFix is an online clothing store and personal styling service. For a $20 styling fee (which is taken out when your Fix ships), you can have five personally selected pieces shipped right to your door. These pieces are selected by your personal stylist, who carefully reviews a "style profile" that you create. The $20 will be credited towards whatever pieces you decided to keep from your Fix. Things that you don't want are placed in a pre-paid mailer and sent back.
When you "check out" online after receiving your fix, you tell them which items you are keeping and give detailed reviews of each item to help better your next fix. It will ask you what you liked/didn't like about the fit, style, and pattern.
Want to try it out? Try just one month-there is no obligation or commitment! Click on the link below the StitchFix icon!

When a Grandmother gives you apples...

...You Make a Fall Favorite!

Although it is still 85+ degrees outside here, I am determined to make this household feel like fall!

Scarecrows placed throughout the bushes in the front yard, pumpkins scattered around the house, faux leaves, pumpkin spice candles, and one of our favorite fall recipes!

John's family is from Georgetown, MA. He moved down here seven years ago. Although his immediate family still lives in MA, all of his extended family has relocated here as well-most being within a thirty minute drive from us! J's "grammie" goes up to MA for five-six months out of the year and when she returns, she always brings us goodies!

We received a new scarecrow, several halloween and fall decorations, mini casserole pans, and apples on apples on apples!

Tonight, I broke out all of the spices and made our favorite version of apple crisp.

But First.. "Let me take a" share a favorite dinner recipe!

Sweet and Tangy Pork Chops with Roasted Veggies
What you will need:
Pork Cutlets or Pork Chops-personal preference
3 Macour or Similar Apples (cooking apples)
1 Sweet Onion
1TBS Garlic
Spice Mix (we use Trader Joe's 21 Seasoning Blend)
8 Red Potatoes
1 Yellow Squash
1 Broccoli Crown
10 White Mushrooms
Paprika
1/2 Stick of Butter
[Feel free to add or subtract any veggies to your personal tastes]

What you will do:
  1. Preheat oven to 350* spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray and wash all veggies.
  2. Cut veggies and 1/2 the onion into bite sized pieces and place on the baking sheet. (I separate them because J is a picky eater and doesn't like mushrooms to touch his food-if this isn't an issue, just throw 'em on there) drizzle 1tsp of olive oil over the veggies. Sprinkle 1 tsp of Garlic on the top as well as paprika to taste. Place in the oven at 350* for 40 minutes.

  3. While the veggies are cooking, start on the Pork Chops. Cut the rest of the onion into skinny slices. Do the same for the apples.
  4. On a new cutting board, open the package of pork and rinse with water. Pat the pork dry with a paper towel.
  5. Grab your seasoning blend and cover each side of the cutlet/chop generously with the blend.
  6. When the veggies are down to 20 minutes, place the Onions, Apples and rest of the Garlic in a heated pan. Keep these moving with a spoon or spatula. When they start to stick to the pan, pour a Tablespoon of water in with the mix.
  7. Once the apples and onions begin to soften and caramelize, add the seasoned cutlets/chops.
  8. Cook until the internal temperature is 165*
  9. Remove the veggies from the oven and the chops from the pan.
  10. Enjoy!

Grammies Apple Crisp
What you will need:
9x13 pan
8-10 apples sliced thinly
1 TBS white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
3/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 beaten egg
pinch of salt

What you will do:
  1. Preheat over to 350* and grease the 9x13 pan.
  2. Layer the apple slices all over the bottom of the pan and sprinkle with the cinnamon, nutmeg, and 1TBS of sugar.
  3. Mix butter, sugars, flour, egg and salt into a batter. Pour over apple and spices. Spread to cover.
  4. Bake at 350* for 40 minutes
  5. Enjoy with Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!

Weekend Recap+Mingle Monday!

via
Well, happy Monday to you! I hope you all had fabulous and enjoyable weekends!
I am here today to link up with Bella from Dateless in Dallas and Lisa at Showered with Design for Weekend Recap and also with Meg from Life of Meg for Mingle Monday! I hope you enjoy.

Weekend Recap

Well, we had a pretty low key weekend!

Friday: John came home from work looking like a train wreck...in the nicest way possible.. He almost never gets sick but, when he does, it hits him HARD! Poor babes slept almost all night from 4pm-5am only waking up to eat dinner. I used this time to snuggle up to him and catch up on my blogging stuff and trashy reality shows (hello Real Housewives)!
Sickly Little One

Do any of you find it funny that when your man is sick, he acts like he is on his death bed but, when we are sick, we are still going a mile a minute? I guess I don't mind taking care of him too much when he snuggles me like this!

Saturday:For anyone that doesn't know, J works six days a week Monday-Saturday which means Saturdays are my 'play days' Due to our schedules we try to spend all the time we can together we both home so, I use Saturdays to schedule lunch dates with my girlfriends, go shopping, etc. This Saturday however, I took somewhat of a 'personal' day. The pups and I rolled out of bed shortly after J left at 530 am, got dressed and drove to the John Ringling Bridge that is 15 minutes away from home.

The Babes!

Sarasota is Kind of Beautiful
Sarasota Bay

Between these babes stopping at every post to sniff, the people we ran into and got to talking with, 20+ photo ops, a short break to call my momma and the walk itself, it took us about an hour an a half to walk the bridge. The weather has been more than perfect here lately! It was 62* degrees when we got to the bridge and it was around 68* when we left!

After our bridge walk, we ventured downtown to check our the weekly farmers market! (of course looking a hot mess with no make up on, I ran into 5 people I knew...)

Puppeteer
A Dog Painted Like A Tiger for Halloween
Along with these sites, we also took in the sights of live performers, fresh produce, and tons of vendors! When we got back home, we laid pretty low. The pups fell asleep and I went out to run errands before going back to packing!

J got home around 330. He was still feeling pretty awful but I gotta hand it to him, h worked a full day looking and feeling like crap! We hung out/snuggled for a bit then I got ready and left to go babysit two of my favorite little babes. J was suppose to come but obviously, feeling like that, he got a free pass!

I spent my Saturday night with these two hams swinging, jumping on the trampoline, coloring, playing with rattles and music instruments, eating pasta, and making cookies.

 Matthew&Breana

We ended the night with lots of snuggles and Frozen.

Sunday: Sundays=Football in this house! We slept in and J was finally feeling a little better. We all got suited up in our game day gear and took the pups for a walk. We ran a few errands then headed to one of our favorite sports bars to watch the Pats take on the Bears.
Such a handsome little fella!

We wrapped up our weekend meeting my parents for dinner then catching up on some trashy reality tv before bed!

Mingle Monday
**What is the scariest movie you have ever seen?**

The scariest movie that I have ever seen would actually be the most recent movie I went to see: Annabelle. Due to it being so new, I won't give out any specific movie details but, let me tell you, I "watched" the whole hour and a half with my hands covering my eyes. I am totally a baby when it comes to scary movies but, J adores them so I cozy up to him, shield my eyes and then get rewarded by dinner at any restaurant of my choice!

Annabelle is the sequel to the Conjuring-also wicked terrifying-The movie is based on a true story and it is centered around the creepiest doll I have ever seen in my life.

Well, on that note, I hope you all had fabulous weekends and enjoy your monday!
As always, thanks for stopping by!

My First 5 on Friday!

Well, Hello There! I figured that there is no way to kick off a new blog like a link up! After a few hours of stalking researching, I found the 5 on Friday link up hosted by AprilDarci, Christina, and Natasha and the Oh Hey Friday link up hosted by Karli! I am going to jump right in and I hope you enjoy!

1. Well first and foremost, I started this new blog! I have a teaching blog, Juiceboxes&Glitter that I have been working on since July but, I recently decided to take sometime off from teaching so, I wanted to start this blog to follow that journey. I plan to write about different travels, recipes, family events, and anything else that my little heart desires. I hope that you choose to follow along and enjoy life with my silly man, two furbabes and myself!
2. If you love wine, you'll love this! Last weekend on our weekly shopping trip, J and I bounced around the wine aisles of our local store and this yummy bottle caught my eye!
Goodness gracious y'all! Cheesecake flavored wine! The smell once you pop that cork out is absolutely divine! I definitely wouldn't consider this an every night thing as it is a little too sweet for me but, as a treat, I highly recommend it! You can find more from the Birthday Cake Vineyards here.

3. I got to spend a lot of time with my momma this week as our schedules just worked! She said that she has been on my dad to get another dog! Chloe (the shiba inu pictured) and Yoda (the little guy photobombing) are John and my dogs. Shiba's are not very common in the US and especially in Florida. They are actually Japanese dogs. Anyways, I rescued my little girl three years ago and ever since, my momma has had a love affair with her. She found a breeder in Pennsylvania so, fingers crossed, we will be welcoming furbaby number 4 to the family!

4. Being home more often now means that I also get to spend more time with my two favorite babes. Tuesday morning, I rolled out of bed around 645, went for a run then enjoyed my morning coffee on our very messy porch (thanks to moving) with this little fella! It was a gorgeous day in FL. 74 degrees!

5. I will be spending my Saturday night with these two hams!
I actually met this family when I started teaching their sons two year old class. He is now almost 5. I developed and awesome relationship with his parents and we have become pretty close friends. I was even able to be at the hospital when princess Breana was born, she is now almost 1. I look forward to any day that I am able to spend with them.

And, heart melter! J actually comes with me! Holly and Darin (the parents) Met him when the kids stayed the night at our place a while ago. Matthew calls him "Mr. John" and it is the cutest thing in the whole world.

hello baby fever
