If there was a criminal charge for killing live plants, I would be in jail for life. Honestly, it is very embarrassing. John's grandmother is over here with the greenest thumb of them all and a prize winning garden and I can barely keep a bouquet of flowers alive for more than three days.
I was pretty ecstatic when succulents became a 'thing'. I'll be honest, I am not exactly sure what a succulent is but, it is pretty much a form of a cactus..it is something that it very low maintenance and it is something I can keep alive!
Anyways, you could say I am now a bit obsessed with succulents. I have three succulent gardens and have become quite fond of gifting my new hobby to friends and family.
Along with bigger/more personal gifts, I have been gifting Mason Jar Succulent Gardens. These are quite fun and super simple and easy to make!
What You Will Need
-mason jar (large enough to get your hand in the top)
-river rocks, bright aquarium rocks, or glass beads
1. pop the lids off your mason jar
2. fill about 1/3 with soil
3. plant succulent-they come out of the planters very easily, just tap the sides
4. fill in with the river rocks/fillers
5. finish the jar off with ribbon and the lids
you can make a cute tag explaining how to care for the succulent...all the recipient needs to know is that the only care they need to provide is a teaspoon of water once a week and cactus food once every month!
