Happy Friday Loves
Honestly, I do not think that this Friday could have come any sooner. This week was a bit rough to say the least. John's grandmother went out of town and left us me in charge of the farm, house, and dogs for the week-simple enough, right? w r o n g you know that saying anything that can go wrong will? Well that came true.
1. the front gate spazzed out and broke (but, I fixed that)
2. chloe got out of the gates and I had to run down a five mile long road trying to find her-thankfully 3. the neighbors found her
4. the dryer broke
5. one of her dogs got super sick
6. the hose sprung a huge hole
7. I saw a snake.

T G I F

so, needless to say, I am drinking a large glass bottle of wine while writing this. I am linking up with my girl Allison from Allison Says So this Friday for In vs. Out.

with all of the bad this week, there were sone high points
-getting my nails done. I love my nail tech. I have been going to her for over two years and I just adore her. I literally walk in and tell her I am up for whatever trend she wants to try and she never lets me down. This week I went in and she wanted to try out a matte gel top coat-I am OBSESSED y'all!

-pumpkins. it's fall y'all-doesn't feel like it but, it is! if you follow me on snapchat (ssarahhhh14) you will know that I have been on the hunt for the great pumpkin.

-grilling out. since it is still hotter than hades here, we are still grilling out.

-bogo bath and body works candles. yes yes yes yes. did you stock up?! I really think it would have been a sin if I didn't buy at least 8..which then resulted in 8 more free-score!

-migraines. I have been getting them more and more frequently lately

-series of unfortunate events. everything going wrong when you are farm/house sitting

-this weather. florida. like I get that you are the sunshine state but can you like drop it down to the 50's and then shine the sun? you are killin' me!

What was in and out for your week?

Battle of the Primers

NYX Photo Loving Primer $13.00
BH Cosmetics Anti Shine Primer $9.00
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer $36.00

Let's talk primers. Until the last year or so, I never used a face primer. I didn't really get the point and I felt that I didn't have the time in my mornings to take that extra step. However, I woke up one day and did my usual make up routine and three hours later that morning, my makeup was running all over the place and my foundation was a clumpy mess. I went into Ulta thinking that my foundation may have just gone bad when one of the ladies stopped me and asked if I needed anything. I explained my situation and she asked what primer I used. I replied "none". She quickly went and grabbed 10 different ones varying in prices and formulas. I grabbed three and went on my way.

Since then, I have tried out about 50 different brands and I have learned a few things..
1. I a b s o l u t e l y need a primer
2. it takes like 2 seconds
3. I like a light matte finish
4. I do not like a strong scent
5. I do not like a cream

so, this brings me to the battle of three very similar primers that I go back and forth with. before really getting into the nitty gritty, all of these primers are very similar in formula. They all have that light silicone-y finish, no scent, and mattify.

NYX Photo Loving Primer
NYX ClaimsPrepare your canvas with our silky primer. The Studio Perfect Primer formula is easily absorbed creates a smooth surface for foundation and ensures the longevity of your makeup.

My Review: this. stuff. is. great. a little definitely goes a long way. if you are looking for a Smashbox dupe, this is your best bet. The formula is identical and it is long lasting. I would say that I get about 10-12 hours of wear with this primer.

How Often Do I Reach For This One: This is more than likely my everyday primer- with that $13 price tag (and usually can be found on sale at Ulta), you can't beat it!

BH Cosmetics Anti Shine Primer
BH Cosmetics Claims: Keep your complexion looking fresh and shine free with Studio Pro Anti Shine. Tap this invisible lightweight gel over or under your makeup to mattify the skin, reduce the appearance of large pores and absorb excess oil.

My Review: note that the claim refers to this formula as a gel-it does come off a bit gel-like on your fingers but goes on as a silicone-y type of formula. This formula is not as long lasting (8-10 hrs.) as the other two I am reviewing but, it is a bit more mattifying. I feel like I never have to oil blot or reapply powder when I use this primer.

How Often Do I Reach For This One: Due to the fact that you can only get this from their website, I will wait until I have list of a few items I need before repurchasing.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
Smashbox ClaimsThe revolutionary formula has oil absorbers for a smooth matte finish all day, light diffusers to minimize the appearance of imperfections, and vitamin C and peptides to help even skin tone and promote collagen production for a flawless future. Now in a sleek tube for perfect dispensing down to the last drop!

My Review: whyyyy do you have to be so pricey?! this is my ultimate primer. I can honestly say that this primer stays put for 12-14 hours. The formula is so insanely lightweight and mattifying. I love the way it feels when it goes on-smooth, hydrating and flawless!

How Often Do I Reach For This One: Quite honestly, as much as I love the Smashbox brand, I just can't fathom paying the $36 for this primer when the NYX primer is an identical dupe for a fraction of the cost. I will use this primer when it is sent to me as a sample, free gift with purchase, etc.

What is your holy grail primer?!

Tourist Traps 101

Regardless of what country or city you are traveling to, they all have the notorious tourist traps. Some are a must do regardless of who you are. Others, I want to smack people for doing because it is insanity-in my opinion.

Examples of acceptable tourist traps:
  1. Notable monuments/statues, I mean, why even go to Paris if you are not going to take the obligatory perfect Eiffel Tower insta picture?
  2. Hop On and Hop Off buses. I think that these are great especially if you are unfamiliar with the city. They help you get a feel for where you are and you hit all the main monuments and such at your leisure and with half the walking!

Examples of unacceptable tourist traps: (Note: if you do any of these things, we are not friends)
  1. Buying anything from the people in the middle of the streets screaming “how much?” “5 for 1 euro” “cheaper than free” “certified (insert item name here)” First off, it is illegal for them to be doing this. If you stop for a second and watch them, they lay their items out on a cloth with strings all around it. This is so that if/when the police come, they can gather it all up and be out of there with in seconds.
  2. Buying roses at night from the same people that tried to sell you 5 gondola key chains earlier in the day that will rust and turn green by tomorrow. Again, the rose selling is illegal and they will die before the end of the night.
  3.  Choosing to sit down and eat at a restaurant right next to a big well-known area such as Lunch next to the Rialto Bridge looking out onto the Grand Canal or Dinner in San Marc Square. No. no. no. no. the view may be nice. It may even be a good insta set up but no. These restaurants are often highly priced for low quality. Instead, go around the corner to a more intimate or local place.
  4. Eating at a restaurant that offers a prix fix menu or a “tourist menu”. r i p o f f. You can usually tell that these are not good restaurants as they display a tacky loud and obnoxious menu, are on a main road, and have waiters calling you over to show you the menu. Again, high priced and low quality.
  5. Gondola rides. I guess that if you must, once is okay but, do not expect them to sing like in the movies unless you want to pay an extra 50 Euro on top of the 80 you just paid for a 30 minute ride or 140 you paid for an hour. Also if you are going at night, expect the price to be higher.
  6. Street Performers...y'all WALK AWAY. I have two issues with this 1. they aren't standing out there performing for their health.. they are preforming for money. If they perform they want you to pay them. 2. it could be a scam. it has been reported that a lot of people get a crowd together and start to perform. then they have someone in the crowd pick pocketing the audience. if you really feel like you need to see the man painted in all silver acting like a statue act like a statue, watch from a far.
  7. Wishing wells/coin tosses (exception:Trevi Fountain). stop throwin' your damn coins in there! If you ask a local, they will tell you the homeless people collect them at night. Great wish that was!
  8. "Don't Talk To Strangers" the most valuable thing I learned from traveling solo to Europe this past summer was that locals are the best and most informative travel resource. Sure, you can have every Rick Steve's book known to man but, a real local knows what is what. Now, I am NOT saying find some sketch ball in a dark alley, tell him your life story, bank account info and that you are traveling alone.. I am saying, if you visit a museum or monument, ask a person working there where they would recommend for a meal.

Do you fall for the traps or are you smarter than the average traveler?!

Lemon Butter Chicken {Recipe}

Y'all it is still 88+ degrees here and I am dying! However, that isn't stopping me from faking it like it's Fall. One thing that Floridians are stellar at is faking the seasons. We have the air cranked way down, house decorated and pumpkin candles burning.
This lemon butter chicken is definitely one of those yummy, home-cooked, comfort meals-perfect for Fall!

I N G R E D I E N T S:
-4-5 chicken cutlets
-2 cups kale or spinach chopped
-1 cup chicken broth
-1/2 cup milk
-1/4 cup shredded parmesan
-3 cloves of garlic minced
-4 tablespoons of butter
-1 tablespoon of paprika
-1 tablespoon of fresh thyme
-juice of one lemon
-salt and pepper to taste

D I R E C T I O N S:
-preheat oven to 400 degrees
-season chicken cutlets with paprika, salt and pepper
-melt two tablespoons of butter in a cast iron skillet on a medium-high heat
-place a decent size amount of kale and parmesan in the middle of each chicken cutlet and roll it up. secure with a toothpick
-place each chicken bundle in the skillet and sear each side until golden-brown (1-2 minutes per side)
-drain excess fat and place bundles aside.
-melt remaining butter in skillet. add garlic and cook until fragrant. stir in chicken broth, cream/milk, lemon juice and thyme.
-bring to a boil. reduce heat and add the rest of the kale and parmesan. stir until sauce has slightly thickened and kale is wilted. add chicken bundles back into skillet.
-place into oven and roast for about 15-20 minutes.

Guys-this is the juiciest and yummiest (hi I am a child) chicken ever. When you make this, you will want to drink the sauce so, grab a spoon!

I hope you enjoy!

Weekend Rewind

Happy Monday loves!
I feel like it has been a little while since I have done a Weekend Rewind so I am going to do so today! I am also going to do it in one of my favorite ways-via snapchats!
If you don't follow me on snapchat, open your app and add me!

F R I D A Y
I #adulted real hard from about 930am-1215pm, I played with the dogs, got my car washed, ran errands, went to the plant store, and gardened...then I took a nap.
J and I decided to get up and be productive again so, we went and got couples pedis, made a target run and then went out to the paddocks to feed the donkeys.

S A T U R D A Y
I met papa runge for breakfast at our favorite spot then went to Ulta... oh how they get me every time- $80 later, I returned home to organize my new goodies and do some planning.
J had to run into the warehouse so I decided to go with. I definitely see the warehouse as an adult playground-I always find something to do there.
This day, I found the great pumpkin-weighing in at 100 lbs! I also found some cute little ones. Then we went to dinner at one of our favorite places with my parents!

J and I ran to the warehouse again to do the usual sunday shennanies-let the dogs out, clean, etc.  then went to wawa for breaky.
We then came back home and played with the pups/did work and homework and relaxed until the pats game. I watched until halftime then went outside to do some things in the yard. I decided that FL is still just too damn hot so....
I ran out and grabbed a 9ft wide inflatable pool and blew it up.
I will be putting this bad boy to use today.

We spent the rest of the night relaxing and getting ready for the week!

I Literally Can't Even Adult

I would like to start this off by saying "thanks...for nothing" to my high school and college teachers.

I can pass a level two stats class.
I can speak French fluently.
but I can not adult for my life.

1. mean girl quotes are my life.
there is never a time, in my opinion where they are inappropriate.

2. I frequently plan to cook dinner but once that time rolls around, my motivation has gone out the window.

3. I a l w a y s freak out when a cop gets behind me-even if I am not doing anything wrong.

4. I have really been getting into the habit of packing late the night before or the morning of a trip.

5. I hate talking on the phone.
If it can't be texted, it probably isn't important.

6. I like to stay in my pjs until around

7. I very firmly believe in celebrating small victories.
this would include things such as:
-paying the bills on time
-waking up before 11am
-getting out of bed before 2pm
-buying groceries

8. When people ask me questions..
is a very mature and respected answer in my opinion

9. I need a chaperone at all times
because, sometimes I just can't even.
I am one of those toddlers that has to touch everything in a store.
and when I drink...well, see above.

10. I have no desire to be a real adult, ever.
Like those men and women who are all uptight all the time and wear uncomfortable black suits from 8-5 monday-friday...never gonna be for me!

What do you have trouble adult-ing with?

2. unwrap the hawaiian rolls. detach three in a row and set those aside.
3. with a bread knife, cut the rest of the sandwiches directly in half with our separating.
4. remove the tops in one motion from the bottoms.
