Week 9: Love/Hate Relationships

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! As soon as I saw Fuller House was on Netflix, I was done. I watched the whole season twice. Before you think I am just that lazy, I watched them while kicking out 25 blog posts for the month of March. Since we are getting married (in just 12 days) I wanted to have as much as I could done.

Anyways, welcome Back to Week 9 of the 52 Week Blogger Challenge!

I feel like I go through a daily struggle of love/hate relationships. I'd love to say I have really good willpower but, lets get real-I am so not an adult!

1. Target
love: everything is in one place. from makeup to groceries to clothes-hello score!
hate: everything is in one place. I go in for a package of paper towels and leave with a cart full of beauty products, clothes, and a coffee.

2. Products in Exchange for Reviews
love: finding a new product/free, hello?!
hate: how do you store all of these free products?! our bathroom is over flowing

3. Reality TV
love: live tweeting, putting myself in their shoes, good laughs
hate: so damn addictive

4. Online Shopping
love: no pants, glass of wine and no pesky sales people
hate: having zero self control and ending up with 10 packages at the door

5. working from home
love: again, no pants, wine, puppy snuggles and flexibility
hate: the struggle to be productive can be so real!

Cheers to Friday+ 21 Questions

Happy Friday loves. I don't know what was going on with me this week but I just felt wicked burnt out when it came to blog stuff. It could have been a result of being at my very soon to be inlaws for a week-since I don't really do blog stuff up there or, it could have been the obnoxious migraine I was dealing with for almost three days. Anyways, this is going up a bit later than usual but better than never, right? 

Like I said, I was battling a migraine for most of the week so I didn't do too much more than lay around on the verge of tears. However the few times I did leave the house, it was for a Publix run and to hit up TJ Maxx. I can't remember whose snapchat I saw it on but, someone I follow posted the most adorable picture of ripped jeans they got from there so obvs. I had to check it out. I am loving that ripped jeans are becoming a big thing again-not that they ever weren't but, you know what I mean. 
anyways I scored these perfect jeans that have rips down both legs, blingy sandals, and Olivia+Joy pouch for under $70.-that's a win in my book. 

Well, that was literally the excitement of my week so with that, I will now finally answer the tag questions that one of my fav blogger besties, Jasmine tagged me in!

  2. When was the last time you cried? While trying to do our seating chart.
  3. Do you have kids? Not yet!

  6. Will you ever bungee-jump? Absolutely not! I am terrified of not being able to control myself.

  8. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Their eyes. I feel like people say way more with their eyes than they do their words.

  17. What are your hobbies? Cooking, wine tasting, baking, spending time with J and decorating.

NYX Face Duo Review

NYX is one of my go to beauty brands-and a major weakness for my wallet. Anytime I run into Ulta I have to see what new products NYX has out and then since I am such an impulse shopper, I buy them. One of my favorite bloggers and blogger besties, Melissa from Primp and Prime Beauty did a whole review on her thoughts/feelings on the NYX Sculpt and Highlight Face Duo and with most of the products she recommends, I knew I had to have it!

My Likes:
-the price point! 
as with all NYX products, the prices just can't be beat. at only $12 this is a serious steal. 
-the formula of the highlighter. 
it is so smooth and creamy. it doesn't have a shimmer in it but has a great glow-y payoff. 
-the amount needed. 
a little bit certainly goes a long way. below I have a picture after I applied the product but before it was blended out. I had to remove a bit of the highlighter as I put way too much on initially. 
-the applicator
I am obsessed with doe foot applicators. 

My Dislikes: 
-the formula of the contour. 
this could have totally been user error but, I felt like the contour formula did not blend out well. I had to really blend, blend, blend then I sprayed a little fix+ on my brush to help blend even more. however, once blended, it was great!

other than the small dislike-which may not even be a real dislike, I am in love with the duo and it will definitely be a daily reach for!

Southwestern Spaghetti Squash [Recipe]

I have a deep deep love of Mexican food. The hubby to be however, is not quite as fond. I wanted to make something with a Mexican feel-enter southwestern spaghetti squash. Not only is this a super healthy recipe (minus the melted cheese) it is so quick and freakin' delish! 

What You Will Need

1 spaghetti squash

2 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 onion, chopped

3 garlic cloves, minced

1 jalapeno pepper, minced (leave seeds in for more heat)
1/2 cup Sweet Peppers diced
1 Tbs. chili powder
1 can cannellini beans (drained and rinsed)
1 cup canned tomatoes
coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup freshly torn cilantro, plus more for garnish
1 lime
1 cup shreadded cheddar cheese

What You Will Do
1. Preheat oven to 375.
2. Cut squash in half and roast on a baking sheet for 35 minutes. Let cool, spoon out the seeds, then using a fork, scrape up the flesh, making the “spaghetti.” 
3. Heat oil in a medium skillet. Add the onion, garlic, jalapeno pepper and red bell pepper. Saute 2 minutes. Add cumin, Mexican oregano, chili powder and a good pinch of salt and pepper. Saute another minute. Add the beans, tomatoes and cilantro. Stir to combine. Squeeze in the lime juice and give one last stir.
4. Add in the “spaghetti” to the bean mixture and stir to combine. Taste and season 
5. Switch oven to broil.
6. Stuff each squash half with the mixture and top with grated cheese.
7. Stick it back under the broiler until the cheese melts and gets all brown and bubbly
8. Garnish with a little bit of cilantro

We enjoyed our spaghetti squash with some chicken marinaded in lime juice, chili powder, brown sugar and garlic.

I am SO excited for this week! Why? Because I am nosey AF, that's why and I like to see what other people buy at the grocery store-Judge me!

What is in My Grocery Cart?

clearly I am an avid Publix shopper #noshame! I am also trying to be more of an adult when I am grocery shopping meaning, I am trying to buy us healthier options for meals and snacks. This particular grocery shop was a "stuff I forgot the first time"/snack shop.
-Publix Peach Tea &Raspberry Lemonade
-Pub Sub because..well, self explanatory if you shop at Publix
-precut watermelon
-Yoplait Plenti Yogurts
-Smoked Salmon
-Cream Cheese
-Lactose Free Ice Cream for J
-Sweet Peppers
-Shrimp Rings (on sale, couldn't pass that up) *momentary lapse of adulting
-Deli Turkey

Shopping Tips
-eat before you go! then you aren't tempted to get extra stuff you don't really need but are craving in the moment
-set a budget!
-shop the deals! if something non-perishable that you use frequently is on sale this week, grab extra!
-make a list-and don't stray!

Warby Parker Sun Collective Try On

Sunglasses are a total vice for me. From aviators to wayfairs I am a sucker for a good pair of shades. I was so exited when Warby Parker released their new Sun Collective line and 2016 Spring collection. The new collection is full of custom colorways, crystal details, and redesigned lens shapes. 

I think the best part of Warby Parker is their Home Try On Program. With this program, you can pick out five pairs of glasses, they send them to you, you get to wear them around for five days and then send them back for free. This is great when you aren't sure which frame shape would look best or if you want to try out a new lens color. Once you have found frames you love, select them online and they will send you a brand new pair! 

I picked out five pairs of sunnies (surprisingly only one was a pair of aviators) 

I have to be honest, I really was in love with every pair I received. It was wicked hard to pick just five online as there were so many adorable pairs. To try them on, I paired each of them with one of my favorite go-to dresses from LuLu's with wedges and also one of my favorite spring outfits-a crop top, pair of skinnies, and flip flops. 

Have you ever tried Warby Parker? For both sunnies and perscription glasses Warby Parker will be my new go to! There is just something about online shopping for my favorite accessories that can't be beat!

Guest Post: Chemistry Cachet+ GIVEAWAY

Skinny Vanilla Latte Muffins Hi y'all, I'm Alexis from the lifestyle blog Chemistry Cachet. I am a chemist and academic consultant, but my favorite form of chemistry is experimenting in the kitchen! I love swapping out ingredients and creating really fun treats that are delicious and healthy too! If you are a reader of mine you know that my sweet hubby has had some severe health problems the last ten years, so he can't have any type of dairy and has to eat well. He is a chocolate fanatic, so I have come up with fun desserts like this dairy-free dutch brownie and these super delicious healthy chocolate fudge cakes for two! You can read a little bit about my health and his health along with my blogging purpose here :) Anyways, I am more of a vanilla fan. Chocolate is awesome, but nothing beats the flavor of vanilla. Plus, coffee is life for I decided to create a recipe that incorporated both. These little muffins are perfect for having with coffee or tea because they aren't too sweet. They are great for a snack or breakfast too!

I will say that these aren't very sweet, but you can totally up the sweetener if you prefer a more cupcake like flavor.
Skinny Vanilla Latte Muffins

Skinny Vanilla Latte Mini Muffins

  • 1 1/2 cup oat flour
  • 6 tbsp coconut oil (sub apple sauce equally for fat-free)
  • 2/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup sweetened coffee, cooled (your favorite kind, I use my french press)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all your dry ingredients together until combined. Add in all the wet ingredients add stir until JUST combined. Add 1 tbsp to a mini muffin pan that has been sprayed. Bake about 15 minutes, depending on your oven. Make sure to take these out when they are a tiny bit gooey inside so they stay moist. If you like SWEET muffins they are more like a cupcake, add about 1/3 cup more of sugar and it should make it much more sweet :)

They go great with any type of flavor :) I love these best with hot chocolate hazelnut coffee or french press coffee! I hope you enjoy these as much as I do :)

Avocado Fudge Brownies [Recipe]+Week 7

Anyone that knows me knows that if I am craving something sweet, it is most likely a brownie. However, brownies are obviously not the most diet-friendly food in the world. I have seen all of the pins lately about how to use avocados in other ways than just a delicious slice of avocado toast so I figured I would bite the bait and try it out! 

Since avocados have a high (healthy) fat content, they can be used in place of butters and oils. Since the brownie recipe I am most addicted to calls for a high amount of oil and butter, I figured it would be the perfect swap! 

what you will need:
-2 cups flour 
-2 cups white sugar
-1 cup mashed avocado
-3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-1/2 cup milk
-1/3 cup water
-1 tsp baking powder
-1 tsp salt
-1 tsp vanilla 

what you will do
-preheat oven to 350* and prepare a baking dish.
-combine all dry ingredients and set aside.
-cut and pit an avocado. using a hand mixer, bend until all of the chunks are out. 
-mix in milk and water and blend throughly. 
-slowly mix in dry ingredients. if needed, add a bit more water to allow ingredients to fully incorporate. 
-pour into baking dish
-bake for 20-25 minutes
-allow to cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting

I am not even remotely kidding you when I say these taste no different than brownies made with actual oil and butter. In my book, these a guilt free and will definitely be repeated!

Weekend Rewind

If you have a Valentine's Day Complex, you should probably not read this rewind as it is all about our fabulous weekend together! 

Saturday morning J surprised me with the most beautiful bouquet of roses. Around 230 J and I left for a little weekend getaway in Orlando. He booked us a room at the unbelievably gorgeous Marriott World Center Resort. We checked in and then hit the bar. (Titos, Cranberry and Lime for me, of course) we then headed up to our room on the 8th floor overlooking all of Old Town and Disney World. We checked in at the best time because there was a gorgeous sky! We got changed and then headed to the main level to check out the amenities. We had dinner at the Japanese Steakhouse in the resort then headed back to our room to exchange gifts, watch a movie and eat v-day chocolates. 

Sunday morning we woke up around 9 for breakfast in bed c/o room service. We then had a date at the Spa for a couples massage. Holy. Gorgeousness. This was one of the most beautiful spas I have ever been to and also the best massage-e v e r! We then headed back to the room, packed up and headed for home. 

It was a quick trip but ultra relaxing and a great time spent with my hubby-to-be in 26 days! 

I am such a sucker for any kind of blogger networking/friendship making. One of my favorite ways to meet new bloggers is through a swap box exchange. For the Show Your Blog Love Valentine's Day Swap I was paired with the ever so sweet Hannah from Eat, Drink, and Save Money. The sweet lady and I had a lot in common from our caffeine addictions to both living in Florida. It was so great getting to know her and I totally think she nailed my box!
