First off, you may be wondering what the heck a Solidarity Sister is. Believe me, that was me a few months ago. I saw all of these bloggers posting about it so I finally did some research and found out. Solidarity Sisters is a collaboration of bloggers getting to know one another one-on-one. Susannah from Simple Moments Stick is the master mind behind this genius idea.
Over the past two months, I have had the pleasure of getting to know fellow blogger, Cat. It is kind of crazy that we live on total opposite sides of the country but we are so alike! I feel like every time we emailed back and forth, I was "Yas girl" and "preach girl"-ing her words.
Cat is a lifestyle blogger located in Northern California. She lives with her boyfriend and furbabies. Like me, Cat is a jack of all trades when it comes to the blogging game. She blogs about everything from beauty and travel to food and DIYs. We had pretty deep conversations and I truly feel like I have gained a new blogger bestie.
We decided that the best way for our readers to get to know the other is to do a Q&A! So, without further ado, meet my newest blogger bestie: Cat.
Q1: What's in a name? How did you pick your blog name?
I actually picked my blog name because it was already my Instagram and Snapchat usernames. And that came from everyone calling me Kitty or asking if my name is “Cat, like Kitty Cat?”.. And the La La comes from Ashley Simpsons song “La La”. I haven’t heard the song since high school dance class so I’m not entirely sure why the LA LA stuck with me from the song, but it did. I’ve thought about changing my name to something more related to me, but I kind of like it as it is.
Q2:Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
I see my blog as a more successful, consistent version of what it is now. With hopefully lots more travel and fashion posts. I’ve been slowly teaching my boyfriend how to use my camera, but we’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t even had time to write blog posts or take pictures for them.
I would definitely bring my camera! What better place to practice and improve your photography skills than in tropical paradise?! I would also bring my pets, I really can’t imagine my life without them. I’d bring a surfboard, it’s a fun way to stay in shape and pass the days. I’d also bring something to play music.. a radio or my phone? Nothing is better than relaxing on the beach with some jams on. And I’d also bring a hammock! I love sleeping in hammocks, I’d put one in my room if my boyfriend wouldn’t feel neglected. It’s so relaxing to rock to sleep.
Q4: What is one thing you want your readers to know about you?
That I’m super outgoing and friendly and if you ever want to message me or need a friend to talk to, I would love to talk :)
Q5: What is a guilty pleasure of yours?
Q6: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I definitely have to say Reality TV. I love Teen Mom, Are You The One, Moonshiners, and … Or those terrible SyFy movies. I love some of those thrillers and shark movies.
I don’t think I could pick just one place, but I’ve always wanted to spend a couple months traveling through Europe. Paris, Amsterdam, and Croatia really stick out to me as places I think I’d really love so they’re high on my list. As is Australia. I guess I just want to travel everywhere.
Q7: Who’s your biggest role model?
My mom was always my biggest role model. She was hard working, generous, and extremely supportive. She had a great sense of humor and was always fun to hang out with. As much as I loved her for being my mother, I loved her that much more that we were best friends and able to talk all the time about anything.
Q8: What’s your favorite movie?
I can never pick a favorite. I like almost all Disney movies (except Hercules and I don’t know why). I also really like Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Soul Surfer, Jaws, and Jurassic Park. If I see these movies on tv or that there is a Harry Potter Weekend or Jaws marathon, I get really excited. My boyfriend does not.
Q9: What are some of your goals (life, blogging, etc.)?
My life goals are to graduate college, move out of the San Francisco Bay Area (it’s too expensive here), get married, have an awesome job, be successful, and just be happy. But if I’m happy with what I’m doing then that’s success to me! My blog goals are to work with some brands, manage my time better, blog more consistently, grow my followers, and improve my networking skills.
Q10: What do you like to do for fun?
I like traveling, but there’s been so much going on in my life recently that I haven’t been able to unfortunately (moving is so stressful ya’ll). I also like to go to the beach/lake, ride horses, ride dirt bikes, go fishing and hunting, and basically do anything outdoors. But I also love staying in and having a movie marathon and hanging with my pets.
Q11: Why did you start blogging?
I had actually attempted to blog several times in the past, but I was unsuccessful each time. I didn’t take the time to research or learn how to be more successful with my blog. I always just sort of felt that I didn’t have anything of value to write, it felt more like an online journal/diary. Then I didn’t want to write anything because I had no motivation. But I definitely feel like I have a lot to share that could potentially interest people and I really like that I can look back on it all and remember life.
Q12: Favorite food/drink?
My favorite food is hands down pasta with butter and parmesan cheese. Or a super burrito. But pasta is my go-to if I’m feeling lazy and my comfort food if I'm sick. My favorite drink is chocolate milk, I know I’m such a kid.
Q13: Favorite blog post you’ve written?
Probably So You’re Thinking About Visiting Newburyport. It was a really special trip for me, it was the last one that my mom and I took together. We spent a lot of time together walking around and shopping. I loved how happy and excited she was that I had decided to join her.
