Week 17: Becoming a Better You


Welcome Back to Week 17 of the 52 Week Blogger Challenge
This week is on becoming a better you. This could mean a variety of different ideas from being more of a morning person to learning to deal with stress better. For me though, this is going to be on my personal health.



I have mentioned a few times recently that I am really on a road to improving my health. In the past, I have tried crash diets, weight pills, fasting, etc. It was up until a few weeks ago that the number I saw on a scale meant more than anything. I have realized though that that number, is just a number. I am not going to lie and say I don't wish I was 10/15 pounds lighter but I am not focusing on the numbers anymore. I just want to be healthy.

I have been striving to get to the gym twice a week and then do at least three at home work outs a week. I have also been eating more veggie based meals, and drinking plenty of water.

Throughout the past few weeks, I have learned a few "tips" that are keeping me on track that I want to share with you!

1. wake up early!
getting up early helps me feel more productive and gives me that time to enjoy.

2. morning workouts.
I find that I am more into my work outs if I get them done pretty soon after I wake up.

3. change it up.
I change my workouts up between yoga, body pump classes, and just a general cardio and weight session.

4. prep to excel.
I have been taking about an hour each Sunday night to pre-prep some quinoa, brown rice, and potatoes for the week ahead. This saves major time when it comes to cooking dinner and eliminates the "but it is too late to cook" excuse. 

5. flavor your water.
I am not a big water person but, when I add mint and some fruit to it, I will drink it all day!

6. motivation.
wether it is adding a motivational quote to your morning alarm, changing your computer background to a motivational quote, having your bestie 1000+ miles away encourage you via snap chat or having your hubby jump on board with you, stay motivated

7. give yourself a break.
we aren't perfect. there are going to be days that you just "can't even" or you are craving a cheeseburger and fries-go for it and don't beat yourself up. there is always tomorrow!
