From Runge to Ricker: The First Look {Pt. 21}

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

This week is all about our first look. I really went back and forth on whether or not we should do a first look. I loved both sides to doing and not doing it so-it was a tough decision. Originally J and I were both against it but then I started reading posts from other bloggers about why they did one and how much they loved doing it, we jumped on board and let me tell you guys, best. decision. ever.

Our photographers had John set up to be facing away from where I would be coming from then had me (with the help of the best Maid of Honor in the world) meet him there.

Ready for the picture overload?

If you are on the fence about whether to do or not to do a first look, do it. I was so anxious, excited, and nervous before seeing John and as soon as he turned around and hugged me I felt so at ease. It was a special moment away from the chaos that he and I were able to share with letters for one another and it was a moment I will never forget.

Where do you stand on First Looks?

  1. I am so glad we did a first look as well! I really love the pictures that came out from it...a lot of crying pictures and it really shows the emotion and I love it! It was also great because we got some alone time, besides our photographers being there, together before all the crazy happened.

  2. Oh my gosh! I totally teared up seeing this!!!! Awww. To be honest, I'm getting married next year and am against the idea, but this makes me second guess my decision! I just want it to be traditional in the church. But wow, these photos are so sweet of you dabbing your husbands eyes!

  3. Doing a first look never even crossed my mind but yours is absolutely beautiful. The picture of you wiping away his tears gives me all the feels! You were such a gorgeous bride! I remember after Alex and I walked back down the aisle after we were pronounced husband & wife, we were waiting on the rest of our party to join us, I leaned on him and let out the biggest sigh of relief. I can only imagine how I would have felt if we had done a first look.

  5. I was definitely back and forth about it, so I just asked my fiance what he wanted to do, and he definitely wants to do a first look! So I'm excited that we'll have one before I walk down the aisle!

  6. These are adorable!!! Every first look I've seen posted on a blog looks like a fun new tradition. I think I might keep it in mind when I get married.

  7. We're planning on doing a first look and I am so excited about it. It will definitely be nice to have a little more time with our guests.

  8. Your photos are gorgeous! We opted to do a fake first look with each of us standing on either side of a wall. That way we got photos together before the ceremony, but kept that anticipation going just a little longer. My husband actually made the final call on that one because I couldn't make up my mind!

  11. I love your pictures! We didn't do one and didn't want to from the start. I started reading all kinds of blogs and told Chuck I wanted to do one and he stood his ground and reminded me why we didn't want to do one in the first place. We opted for an idea I had seen, the first touch and it ended up working perfectly. I love that you followed your heart and chose what you wanted to do...great pictures!
