#RickerPartyof3:Becoming Grandparents

Hi Lovies! Today we are talking how John and I told our parents that they were about to become grandparents.

I am a big fan of boxes as you saw from my reveal to John so, I felt like it was only fitting to keep the theme and make boxes for our parents as well. We wanted to tell them around the same time so we waited for the weekend before Thanksgiving as John's parents would be in town.

We set up a dinner on the Friday before with my parents and then told John's parents on the Tuesday after.

The boxes each consisted of The Grandparents Poem, a onesie, a pair of baby socks and a pacifier.

The Grandparents Poem:
I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
I don't yet have a name.

Not yet can you hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still to early to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.

But that will all change come June 2017,
When they say I am due.
I am your first grandchild,
and I can not wait to meet both of you!

All I ask between now and then,
Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I will be worth the wait,
Just think of all the love we'll know.

So what I have to give you now,
Is a wish to you from me.
I can not wait to be apart
Of this wonderful family!

Baby Ricker Due June 29, 2017

Both sets of our parents were so excited and tear filled! We told them both pretty early on but we really enjoyed getting to update them weekly with early bumpdates and pregnancy revelations!

Did you tell the grandparents to be in any special way?

  3. I absolutely love this, what a great idea! We were actually heading to Italy with my family, and while I was only 6 weeks we knew we should tell them because I wouldn't be able to hide the fact that I wasn't drinking for very long. The first night we got there we were in a little restaurants celebrating my dad's bday. We gave him a card that said something along the lines of "happy birthday, love the 3 of us". They were so excited. When we got back from Italy, we told Steve's family by telling them we got them a souvenir on the trip, and handed them an envelope with an ultrasound picture in it.
