Hi loves! 
Today I decided to share with you some of the tips/tricks I have picked up along the way to ensure a happy and healthy pregnancy. As we all know, everyone wants to give you their two cents when you become pregnant and I am definitely no doctor so just take these as you will! 

1. Take Your Prenatal Vitamins! 
Prenatal vitamins are really something that you should start prior to finding out that you are pregnant. I was advised to start taking them as early as three months before we even wanted to start trying. Prenatal vitamins are essential to your baby's growth and development. The folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects and the iron helps support the babies growth. 

2. Listen To Your Body!
Although pre-baby you may have always been go-go-go, having a watermelon seed growing inside of you is hard work and exhausting. If you knew me pre-baby R, you will know I had a sever case of insomnia. Becoming pregnant definitely kicked that ish right to the curb. It is okay to take a mid-day nap or want to be in bed by 8pm. Don't overwork yourself! 

3. Listen to Your Doctor! 
I am sure you will know many people that have had babies before you and they will all come out of the woodwork to tell you their remedies/tricks/advice. Definitely listen but take all of it with a grain of salt. Our parents grew up in a different time than us so although they may have an idea that worked for them, it could be outdated or not recommended today. When in doubt, fact check it with your OB. 

4. Re-evaluate Housework
It shouldn't come as a surprise that it is crucial to stay away from harsh smells and chemicals. In our house, I was usually the one that did most of the cleaning. Upon becoming pregnant, John really stepped up to the plate and has taken over any cleaning that requires more than just soap/water or a mild cleaner. It is also important that once the areas are clean, you are not just sitting in the chemically smell-make sure windows are open and fans are on to get that odor out! 

5. Mommy Time
Make sure that you schedule time just for yourself. Whether it is going to the movies alone one afternoon, a shopping trip, a manicure, or the house to yourself with a warm bath-make time for you! There are a lot of changes going on and you need to make yourself a priority. 

6. De-Stress
Whether it is at home or at work, these 9 months are not the time for people or situations to be stressing you out. Make sure that you know your limits and don't let people push them. If something is stressing you out, take the time to talk to someone about it and find a reasonable solution. Remember, everything you feel, the baby feels

7. Myth Busters: Eating for Two
I am sure we have all heard the phrase "eating for two". Although it is crucial to make sure you are eating the right balance of things and getting in all your nutrients, you want to make sure you aren't over eating. Putting on too much weight can cause stress on the baby, your back, and cause gestational diabetes. It is all about balance. If you are craving something sweet, try fruit over ice cream. If you have to have the ice cream, opt for something light/healthy for dinner! 

8. Hydrate!
This is probably what I have the hardest time with. I have never been a big water drinker but now, I am suppose to drink at least 10 cups a day-eek! I try to infuse my water which makes it easier for me to get it down.
